Author Guidelines

Baghdad College of Medical Sciences Journal (BCMSJ) welcomes original submissions in the fields of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing, Midwifery, and the Medical Sciences. Please read the following guidelines carefully before submitting your manuscript.

1. Types of Manuscripts

  • Original Research Articles – up to 4,000 words
  • Review Articles – up to 6,000 words
  • Case Reports – up to 2,000 words

2. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should be arranged as follows: Title Page; Abstract (maximum 250 words) with 3–6 keywords; Introduction; Materials and Methods; Results; Discussion; Conclusion; Acknowledgements; References; and Tables and Figures with captions.

3. Formatting Requirements

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt, double-spaced
  • Continuous page and line numbering
  • All measurements expressed in SI units

4. References

References must follow the Vancouver style, numbered consecutively in the order in which they appear in the text.

5. Ethical Requirements

Studies involving human participants must include approval from an institutional research ethics committee and confirm that informed consent was obtained. Manuscripts must be original, must not have been published previously, and must not be under consideration by any other journal.

6. Authorship, Funding and Conflicts of Interest

All named authors must have contributed substantially to the work. Sources of funding and any conflicts of interest must be declared at the end of the manuscript.

 

7. Publication Fees

The Baghdad College of Medical Sciences Journal (BCMSJ) does not charge any fees to authors at any stage of the editorial or publication process. There are no submission charges, no article processing charges (APCs), and no publication fees. All published articles are freely available to readers under Open Access at no cost to authors or readers.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Authors who publish with Baghdad College of Medical Sciences Journal (BCMSJ) retain the copyright of their work, which is simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits others to share and adapt the work, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original authors and the journal.

By submitting to BCMSJ, authors confirm that the manuscript is their original work, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
