Focus and Scope

The Baghdad College of Medical Sciences Journal (BCMSJ) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal published by Baghdad College of Medical Sciences. The journal publishes original research across the pharmaceutical, medical, and basic health sciences.

Topics within the journal’s scope include, but are not limited to: Pharmacy and Physical Pharmacy; Pharmacology; Clinical Pharmacy; Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Pharmaceutics; Pharmacognosy; Pharmacokinetics; Toxicology; Pharmaceutical Analysis; Pharmaceutical Biotechnology; Industrial Pharmacy; Biopharmaceutics; Drug Design; Physiology; Biology and Microbiology; Anatomy and Histology; Biochemistry; Nursing; and Midwifery. BCMSJ publishes original research articles, review articles, and case reports, and welcomes submissions from researchers, clinicians, educators, and postgraduate students.

Peer Review Process

All submissions are initially screened by the editorial team for suitability and scope. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening undergo a double-blind peer review by at least two independent expert reviewers. The final decision to accept, request revisions, or reject a manuscript rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

Open Access Policy

BCMSJ provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Publication Fees

BCMSJ charges no fees whatsoever to authors — there are no submission charges, no article processing charges (APCs), and no publication fees at any stage of the editorial or publication process.

Publication Frequency

The journal publishes issues on a regular basis. Accepted articles may also be made available online ahead of the compiled issue.

Publication Ethics

Baghdad College of Medical Sciences Journal (BCMSJ) is committed to the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Authorship: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All co-authors must approve the final manuscript before submission.

Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must submit entirely original work. Manuscripts are screened for plagiarism, and any suspected case of plagiarism, data fabrication, or falsification will be investigated in line with COPE guidelines and may result in rejection or retraction.

Research Involving Human and Animal Subjects: Studies involving human participants must be approved by an appropriate institutional research ethics committee and conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki. Studies involving animals must comply with relevant institutional and national guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals.

Conflicts of Interest: Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could be perceived as a conflict of interest.

Duplicate Submission: Manuscripts submitted to BCMSJ must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere and must not have been previously published.

Corrections and Retractions: The journal will issue corrections, clarifications, or retractions when necessary, following COPE guidelines, to preserve the integrity of the scientific record.

Handling of Misconduct Allegations: Any allegations of research or publication misconduct will be investigated thoroughly by the editorial team in accordance with COPE guidelines.

For Authors

  • Manuscripts must be original, not previously published, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable. All submissions may be screened using plagiarism detection software.
  • All authors listed must have made a significant contribution to the research.
  • Any conflicts of interest must be disclosed.
  • Studies involving human participants must have ethics committee approval and informed consent.
  • Data fabrication or falsification is strictly prohibited.

For Reviewers

  • Reviews must be conducted objectively and confidentially.
  • Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves when appropriate.
  • Reviewers must not use unpublished data from manuscripts they review.

For Editors

  • Editorial decisions are based solely on academic merit and relevance.
  • Editors must maintain confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts.
  • Editors must recuse themselves from decisions where conflicts of interest exist.
  • Allegations of misconduct will be investigated following COPE guidelines.
